Privacy policy

Briefwynd composes a personal brief from interests you give us. That makes privacy the core of the deal, so this policy is short, specific, and written to be read.

Effective September 14, 2026

1. What we collect

We collect what you give us and what the service needs to run, and nothing speculative.

  • Account data: name, email, and a scrypt-hashed password, or your Google identity if you sign in with Google.
  • Brief configuration: the topics, tone, and voice choices for each of your shows.
  • Episodes: each composed brief, its chapters, basis labels, and any notes you pasted for that morning.
  • Usage counters: how many briefs composed in a week, for plan limits.
  • Form submissions: what you send through contact, help, and careers forms.
  • Basic server logs (IP, route, status) kept briefly for security and rate limiting.

2. What we use it for

One purpose: operating Briefwynd for you. Your topics compose your brief. Your email signs you in and receives account messages like verification and password resets. Counters enforce the plan you chose.

We do not sell personal data, share it with advertisers, build advertising or engagement profiles, or train models on your topics, notes, or episodes.

3. Processors we rely on

A few well-known processors run parts of the service, each receiving only what its job requires: hosting infrastructure serves the app and stores data; a language model provider (such as OpenAI or Anthropic) receives your topics and any pasted notes to compose an episode; ElevenLabs receives episode text to synthesize speech; Stripe processes payments so card numbers never touch our servers; an email provider delivers account messages.

Provider API keys and calls live entirely server-side.

4. Retention and deletion

Your data lives while your account does. Deleting your account, from Settings, removes your account, shows, episodes, and counters in one immediate cascade. There is no retention window and no recovery copy.

You can export everything first as a single JSON file, also self-serve from Settings.

5. Your rights

Access, correction, export, and deletion are built into the product rather than a request queue. If you are in a jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (GDPR, CCPA, and friends), those rights apply and the same controls satisfy most of them; for anything else, write to us and a person will handle it.
